Moments of Mindfulness

Today I want to share with you one of my favorite habits: enjoying a few moments of mindfulness every day.
Don't worry, these moments appear by themselves, you just have to be willing to enjoy them.
You may ask yourself... and how do I find them?
My first moment of Mindfulness
My first little bit of mindfulness starts in bed. The first thing I do when I get out of bed is to stop and take a moment to do nothing. I allow myself to observe my body, maybe I need to stretch a bit, take three deep breaths, or maybe I feel like looking at the ceiling and observe how my thoughts start to activate (but I don't get stuck with them yet, I just observe them and let them pass). Sometimes, I pull up the blinds and just sit and watch the sky.
That moment of mindfulness doesn't have to be very long, but it's so enjoyable that you'll feel like extending it ;)
As I said, I take the first action after opening my eyes in a conscious way and that feels wonderful. A habit that allows that during the rest of the day I can make decisions and actions more aligned to how I feel today, here and now.
During the day, look for more mindful moments
Once we start our daily routine, we tend to get so immersed in the tendency to do-do-do-do that we often forget to BE.
Little reminder:
We are not human doings. We are human beings
It is important to find moments of mindfulness in between all those daily tasks. Those moments of pause and disconnection - real connection with your inner self - will allow you to remain mind & heart in coherence.
Let's look at a couple of examples
You've been working and it's time to go to lunch. It is just at that moment when you are about to change your action, when it is time to enjoy a moment of Mindfulness. You are sitting in your chair and before you get up... You stop. You close your eyes. Inhale deeply through your nose as you observe how the air enters your nostrils and fills your lungs. Exhale calmly, enjoy that moment when you get all the air out of your body, deflating your belly, your lungs and letting the air out through your nose (you can also take the air out through your mouth if you notice any blockage or tension in your body). And you repeat the process, this time, perhaps with your eyes open, observing your surroundings.
You finish working, you get ready to go home. You are standing on the street and before you start your walk home...You stop. You take a deep breath through your nose while observing your surroundings, maybe you hear sounds, maybe you feel the wind caressing you, maybe you feel tired or upset by the things you still have to do... don't judge, just observe. And take out all the air until you release it all, little by little. You can repeat the process a couple more times until you get a smile.
Until you get a smile?
Yes, Mindfulness moments make us feel alive. When your body-mind and soul feel that you are taking a moment to align your energy, they appreciate it. So these little moments of inner listening, observation, conscious breathing make you feel gratitude in the here and now, enjoy it.
These moments are not magic, but they will bring you calm and a greater sense of well-being. They will allow you to feel more mental clarity and take actions more aligned with your inner self.
I encourage you to try it and to share with me how you have felt. I read you :)
With gratitude!
